With Round 3 of Top Drift Pro Am wrapped up, Konig Sponsored driver Adam Knapik brought home a 2nd Place podium finish in his Nissan 240sx! Adam runs 18×9 / 18×10 Konig SSM wheels to compete in drifting and the occasional time attack type events.
Knapik’s Top Drift event was “no walk in the park”. After partnering up with Zestino Tires right before the Round 3 event, there was a lot of dialing in to do with no time for testing. Adam placed 4th in qualifying and then hit the tarmac for his Top 16 face-off. Putting down a excellent lead run resulted in a “One More Time” decision win, advancing Knapik to the “Great 8” bracket. The Great 8 bracket is where he found himself up against Shaun Illingsworth. Adam had some confidence pulling away with win despite some of the difficulty in his follow run.
With a Top 4 standing Adam was paired up with Dominic Rotondo and his LS3 V8. It was a battle for redemption for Adam, as he was taken out by Dominic in Round 2. After his tire revisions from Round 2, Adam put it all out in his lead run to pull away with the Top 4 win. Next Adam was paired with Alex Grimm and his unique Datsun 240z. After a “One More Time” battle and a solid lead run by Adam, something didn’t feel right with his car during the follow run. Despite of Adam’s Nissan slipping out from under him, he did his best to keep composure. Unfortunately it was too big of mistake for the judges resulting in a 2nd Place podium finish.
It didn’t take Adam a long time to figure out what was causing his vehicle to feel so off. There was a catch can spill which generously oiled up and made the front end on Adam’s Nissan extremely slick. Despite the hick-up it was an overall successful event for Adam. He furthered his over competition point standings, got some great seat time with his new tire setup and continued to make his loyal followers proud.
