Here’s What Fits Your NA/NB Miata
If you or someone you know has a Mazda MX-5 Miata (NA or NB), make sure they watch this episode of Fit Check where we cover all the fitment options for these roadsters.
In our Fit Check series, we break fitment down into three categories: “No Hassle”, “Slight Flex”, and “All The Wheel.” These categories make it easy to identify which setup best suits your needs. If you’re just looking to cruise comfortably with OE-like manners, No Hassle may be your lane. If you’re after a more aggressive stance while keeping things street-friendly, Slight Flex is usually the sweet spot. If you want to max out your Miata’s wheel wells for track use or car shows, then All The Wheel is where you’ll want to look.
The NA and NB Miata both came with a 4x100 bolt pattern and a 54.1mm hub bore. Factory wheel sizes varied depending on trim, with 14”, 15”, 16”, and even 17” options in widths of 6” or 7”. For aftermarket, we recommend sticking between 15”–17” and always maintaining overall rolling diameter.
No Hassle Fitment
For the easiest, most comfortable setup, stick with wheels between 7”–7.5” wide and offsets in the ET20–ET40 range. This fills out the wheel wells better than stock, avoids rubbing, and allows you to keep factory tires in many cases.
Suggested Fitment:
15”-17”x7-7.5 ET20-40 square
Suggested Wheels:
Rewind 15X7 ET20
Lockout 15x7 ET38
Backbone 16X7 ET40
Slight Flex Fitment
Looking for a little more stance without going overboard? This category calls for 8” wide wheels with offsets from ET25–ET40. This setup fills out the wheel wells nicely, gives you a bolder look, and usually avoids suspension or body modifications. You’ll want to size your tires accordingly since most OE tires won’t stretch to fit.
Suggested Fitment:
15”-17”x8 ET25-40 square
Suggested Wheels:
Dial-in 15x8 ET25
Dekagram 16x8 ET35
Countergrams 15x8 ET25
ALL THE WHEEL Fitment
For the fearless, this is the max-aggression category. A squared setup with 8.5” wide wheels in the ET32–ET38 range is about as big as you can get before needing tweaks. At this point, minor suspension adjustments and fender rolling may be required.
Suggested Fitment: 15”-17”x8.5 ET32-38 square
Bonus Round: Good-Win Racing Fitment
We teamed up with our friends at Good-Win Racing, who are Miata specialists, to add a track-focused category.
Their “sweet spot” setup is a 15x9 +35 wheel wrapped in a 225/45. This requires coilovers with 2.5” or smaller springs and rolled fenders on both NA and NB chassis. Want to go wider? The NB chassis allows a little more space, and Good-Win offers exclusive Konig options like the 15x9.5 +29 on a 245/40—but this needs a full fender roll, negative camber, and possibly fender pulling on NA cars.
With aftermarket flares, you can step into 15x10 +25 or even 15x11 +20, both of which require trimming, flare installation, and additional inner clearance work.
Good-Win also provides brake upgrade kits and clearance templates, so if you’re going big on stopping power, make sure your wheel choice clears.
Suggested Wheels:
Countergram 15x9 ET35
Hyperspec15x9 ET35
Ultragram 15x9 ET35
Final Wrap Up
Whether you’re aiming for a mild street-friendly look or a full-blown track-ready grip setup, the NA and NB Miata have a ton of fitment flexibility. Between Konig’s lineup and Good-Win’s exclusive options, there’s something for everyone.
